Meeting 003 // 2nd March 2009
The third meeting with David, this time in the EPIC studios. It was good to get an impression of the equipment and the facilities, David is working in. And I have to say: I am quite impressed of this professional environment and it is hopefully a good possibility for me not only to do this project together with David but to get in touch with this institution as well.
Concerning the collaboration, David showed me a first draft sound-layout for the brain-section. And I liked it! I think this is going to work out. There were no sounds for the discussing people in the brain yet, as he wasn’t sure yet about the kind of sound-design for this part. Is it possible to understand, what they are talking about? And if yes, is it in German or in English or both? Well, he is going to do some tests for this part, but at the moment I think that it is probably the best, not to understand them at all – just a kind of mumbling impression of talking people in the head. We’ll see.
Tonight, David is going to make some recordings in an interesting place full of machines and weird stuff. He is expecting to get lots of sounds and recordings by this, that will help him to do the sound-design for the rest of the body.
Finally, I gave David a copy of the Learning Agreement and the current amount of films, that are more or less finished. And as Tom Simmons offered us to get in touch with him all together, I asked David if up for that. So, we will try to do one of our next meeting together with Tom at the beginning of next week. David is of the opinion that he will finish a couple of sounds until then, so it makes sense to see Tom and talk with him about the combination of image and sound. Probably he has some advice for us how to continue.
Depending on the progress of his sound-production, I am probably going to see David this week again on next Friday. So I can have a look not only on the final sounds, but as well on the work-in-progress process.
