icon3Last week I met Paul Osborne, a student in the BA Visual Studies Course who is very interested in building a cabinet for my Industrial Palace. Finally! Within this first meeting he already had lots of great ideas and some advice of how to build and create the cabinet. And to be honest: It is rather helpful for me to talk to someone who has the knowledge and the skills of the construction and setup of a framework like this. In addition to that, Paul and I developed some first ideas about the style and the visual appearance of the construction and all the different elements that we have to consider (Sound, Ventilation, Hardware, Power supply, …). As my main aim is to create a box that fits to the stylistic and visual character of the original poster, Paul told me that we not only have to set up the framework – which is not too difficult so far – but that we can do a lot for finishing and bringing the cabinet to perfection as a kind of post-production-process after the basic setup. I am looking forward to having a closer look concerning this part of the project!

By this, I came across the general problem of finding the right equipment and hardware. Although I can borrow some of the stuff from the Art School for my presentation, I have to think about how I want to use this work in the future, where it could go and how I can for example transport the whole machinery. The size of the screen is in this case the most important question as the whole construction of the wooden framework depends on the ratio and size of the screen.

There are lots of questions that are not that easy to answer…
