While talking to Hayley Winter about my project, she came up with the term of Genesis. As I also do some research in the field of Pictographs and Icon Graphics, I remembered a project by a former student from my University in Duesseldorf, Juli Gudehus. In her book ‘Genesis’ she tells the familiar story of the Creation in the visual language of the 20th century. From Fiat Lux! to the seventh day of rest, the story has been translated line by line into the alphabet of the signs, labels and trademarks of consumption and contemporary systems of orientation and signals.
