IAKOV CHERNIKOV’S ARCHITECTURAL FANTASIES
While looking for urban design of futuristic and unusual spaces, I found some artwork by the Soviet avantgardist Iakov Chernikhov, “known throughout the world as the most inventive of the Soviet architects who pursued the constructive formal logics of the machine”.
Amazing images and I think rather helpful for me to set up the design for my urban matrix.
Chernikhov [5 (17) December 1889, Pavlovgrad, Ukraine - 9 May 1951, Moscow] was a constructivist architect and graphic designer. His books on architectural design published in Leningrad between 1927 and 1933 are amongst the most innovatory texts and illustrations of their time.
Neither Suprematist nor Constructivist, Chernikhov epitomizes the many different societal roles of an architect with his prolific writing, teaching, and visionary architectural drawing.
